Concentrated Four-Strain Phytoplankton Gel for Reef Aquariums

Easy Reefs EasyBooster PRO is a 1500ml bulk pouch of concentrated marine phytoplankton in a proprietary gel suspension. Unlike liquid phytoplankton that need refrigeration and have short shelf lives, the EasyBooster gel keeps microalgae stable at room temperature for over 18 months. This shelf life makes it practical for retail stores, large reef hobbyists, and public aquariums, offering a reliable phytoplankton supply without cold logistics or waste risk.

The formula blends four marine microalgae strains: Isochrysis T-ISO (33%), Nannochloropsis (31%), Tetraselmis (18%), and Phaeodactylum (18%). These offer vitamins, essential fatty acids like EPA, DHA, ARA, and GLA, amino acids, proteins, carbs, minerals, and bioactives—covering ocean phytoplankton's full nutrition. Easy Reefs claims these strains offer a complete nutritional profile for aquarium animals throughout the food chain.

EasyBooster PRO isn't just for dosing phytoplankton as coral food; its main purpose is to fuel an in-tank zooplankton cycle. Phytoplankton is eaten by zooplankton, which in turn feeds filter feeders, fish, and corals. A healthy, self-sustaining phytoplankton-zooplankton cycle reduces reliance on manual feeding. EasyBooster PRO forms the basis of this cycle, with a 4-week ramp-up to gradually increase phytoplankton, helping zooplankton grow alongside without causing nutrient spikes or algae issues.

Key Features:

  • 1500ml bulk pouch of concentrated four-strain phytoplankton in gel suspension
  • Gel form stable at room temperature for over 18 months — no refrigeration required
  • Four-strain formula: Isochrysis T-ISO (33%), Nannochloropsis (31%), Tetraselmis (18%), Phaeodactylum (18%)
  • Delivers vitamins, essential fatty acids (EPA, DHA, ARA, GLA), amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, and bioactive compounds
  • Builds zooplankton populations in the reef system, which then feed fish, filter feeders, and corals continuously
  • 4-week ramp-up dosing protocol for safe, stable introduction without nutrient spikes
  • No need to turn off the protein skimmer during dosing
  • Compatible with dosing pump automation for continuous daily delivery (dosing pump not included)
  • Maintenance dosage: 8ml per day for a 260-gallon system (scale proportionally for smaller or larger tanks)
  • Suitable for reef systems housing corals, clams, sponges, filter feeders, and marine fish and invertebrates

Ideal For:

  • Established reef hobbyists who want to build a living, self-sustaining phytoplankton-to-zooplankton food chain in their system rather than depending entirely on manual broadcast feeding for coral and invertebrate nutrition
  • Retail fish stores and public aquariums running large-display reef systems with filter feeders, SPS and LPS corals, clams, and invertebrates who need a professional-scale phytoplankton supply with an 18-month room-temperature shelf life
  • Reef keepers maintaining obligate filter feeders — clams, feather dusters, sea fans, basket stars, and non-photosynthetic corals — that require consistent daily phytoplankton availability and benefit from a concentrated gel supply that can be reliably dosed on an automated schedule

Pro Tips:

  • Follow the 4-week ramp-up protocol — do not skip to the maintenance dose on day one. Adding a full phytoplankton dose to a system without an established zooplankton population to consume it can cause the excess phytoplankton to feed algae rather than the reef food chain. The graduated protocol builds the zooplankton population in proportion to the phytoplankton input so the system's biological filter can handle the load at each step.
  • Dose near a high-flow pump, and leave the skimmer running. Easy Reefs specifically states the dose should be introduced near a pump producing intense water circulation, and that turning off the skimmer is not necessary. The skimmer removes excess organic material from the water column; phytoplankton that is consumed by zooplankton or filter feeders before reaching the skimmer is productive. The fraction the skimmer removes is not working against the system.
  • Use a dosing pump for consistent daily delivery. Manual dosing once daily produces a single daily spike of phytoplankton followed by a long gap. A dosing pump distributing the daily volume across multiple micro-doses throughout the day creates a more consistent phytoplankton availability in the water column, which better mirrors natural conditions and more efficiently supports a continuous zooplankton population. EasyBooster PRO is specifically compatible with dosing pump automation; the dosing pump is sold separately.
